TEV-XT-DXT

As a snow removal contractor, you face all kinds of obstacles when plowing—everything from hidden hazards to uneven terrain. We also know that no two jobs are the same; different contracts, landscapes, and personal preferences all shape how you operate equipment.

That’s why BOSS equips every plow with cutting-edge trip protection technology. Whether you're navigating rough conditions or tackling unpredictable surfaces, we offer the right solution to keep you moving. Tripping technology helps protect both the operator and the vehicle when encountering obstacles by allowing the plow to absorb the impact instead of you or your vehicle.

BOSS Snowplow uses three types of tripping systems: Trip-Edge, Full-Trip, and Dual-Trip. Learn how they work and discover which one best fits your needs below.

Trip-Edge

For the 2025-26 season, BOSS Snowplow introduced the TEV, its first Trip-Edge V-Plow. Trip-edge plows are widely used in the industry because they allow the cutting edge to trip over low-profile obstacles without losing the snow load.

TripEdge

Common obstacles that trip-edge plows encounter include manhole covers, large cracks in pavement, and speed bumps. When a trip-edge plow encounters a hidden obstacle, the lower edge "gives way" to absorb the impact, reducing potential damage to your truck or equipment.

TEV Features:

          • Two adjustable torsion springs for controlled trip action
          • An adjustable link with multiple holes to fine-tune the attack angle and coupler height for ease of attachment to the truck
          • Formed center snow catchers to minimize snow trails and ensure a clean pass

BOSS Trip-Edge Snowplow Lineup:

Well-suited for areas with frequent low-profile obstacles.

Full-Trip

BOSS Full Moldboard Trip Plows feature a heavy-duty tripping system that allows the full moldboard to trip forward when hitting larger obstacles, such as curbs, storm drains, and frozen snowbanks.

full TripThis system provides higher impact absorption, ensuring smooth operation even on unpredictable surfaces and environments.

One of the most popular full-trip plows, the BOSS XT, features:

          • Flared blade wings to throw snow higher and further
          • A formed cutting edge with built curb guard and center snow catcher
          • Reinforced moldboards for increased durability

BOSS Full-Trip Snowplow Lineup:

Designed for areas with larger, high-profile, obstacles are common, uneven terrain, and loose or gravel surfaces.

Dual-Trip

BOSS is the exclusive provider of Dual-Trip DXT Plows, which combine trip-edge and full-trip technology to offer the best of both worlds.

Dual Trip

How the DXT works:

  • When a low-profile obstacle (e.g., manhole covers, cracks) is encountered, only the trip-edge gives way, keeping your snow load intact.
  • When a larger obstacle (e.g., curbs, frozen snowbanks) is hit, the entire plow trips forward to absorb the impact, reducing strain on you and your equipment.

The BOSS DXT is engineered for maximum protection and durability, featuring:

          • A patented dual-trip design for comprehensive obstacle absorption
          • A long-lasting, durable base angle that functions as the cutting edge until it wears down. Once it reaches a set point, the snow catchers are removed, and a replaceable cutting edge is bolted on for extended use.
          • Built-in curb guards and snow catcher

BOSS Dual Trip Snowplows:

Ideal for operators who encounter a mix of low profile and larger obstacles in varying conditions.
